While Providence is not the center or the art world, there is water in the proverbial desert. Works by Jen Raimondi on display this July at the AS220 project space are as interesting and worthwhile as anything you might happen upon in Chelsea.
Raimondi had several assemblages installed at the ass220 project space. Made from organic and inorganic materials have a microcosmic sensibility, but perhaps they are most reminisent of Victorian era dioramas. www.as220.org
Craftland is boutique in downtown providence featuring contemporary work by local artists. They also have a white wall gallery that puts up some interesting shows. This piece by Richard Saya is part of an embroidery show that was up the past July. craftlandshow.com
The installation by Meredith Younger, "Bury Me Deep" comes off like a morbid Eastern European fairy tale in 3d. The installation is a combination of wood, ceramics, taxidermy and other materials. Meredith works as a print maker and ceramist. Children are often her choice of subject matter.
I started this blog to make available to anyone interested, another perspective. One not visible through my public persona.
This page is meant to be idiosyncratic and personal.
I intend to fill these pages with artworks, design, and curiosities that really grab me! I hope they touch you as well.
One might hope for an underlying theme to somehow blend the stew of my eclectic mind together, but that is not the point here really.
The point once again is to provide a more dimensional perspective of who I am and showcase great object and object makers
